22nd Regional Meeting Medan 2016
In order to enhance the soft skills of the awardees to face the future, Van Deventeer- Maas Stichting held the 22nd regional meeting under the theme “Know Yourself to Create Your Career Plan”. The event lasted for three days on 3-5 November 2016 from 08:00-17:00 o’clock p.m., at VIP room SERBA GUNA building, State University of Medan (UNIMED). The event involved a total of as many as 54 participants coming from UNIMED and North Sumatra University (USU). Since the first day of this RM, the grantees got much knowledge and experience, starting with an introduction of VDMS by Ibu Parce and continued with the provision of material by some great speakers one of them is the Ibu Jenny who provided the materials on Leadership. Ibu Jenny told many things that being a leader is not easy and also challenging. To become a leader, we must become a servant because a leader is a servant. Besides the leadership, the grantees also get outstanding material from another great speaker, she is ibu Neila from UGM about Career Plan Setting goals. In this session, the grantees are active to ask and very communicative, especially when holding a direct practice interview.
It was not only getting valuable materials, the grantees also received new knowledge on the sharing alumni from Abdul Marasabessy (Aqul) and LotteTroost – student from Leiden University. Aqul informed how he struggled during the college and how he reached his dream, and Lotte also told her experience in the university in Netherlands and how different culture in the Netherlands and Indonesia, Lotte is undergoing research and study at UGM now. In addition, the grantees got knowledge from Dedi Sanjaya as alumnus and update what is being done by the alumni when they graduated from college and joined the alumni association. In a nutshell, the grantees got knowledge and important things which were meeting a lot of friends and networking that have been obtained through these meetings, regional meeting (RM) is very nice and very useful for the grantees and alumni to prepare their future.
