Regional Meeting Makassar 2019
Sixty-nine participants attended the Regional Meeting (RM) Makassar. The participants came from Hasanudin University (UNHAS), Lambung Mangkurat University (UNLAM), and the University of Atma Jaya Makassar (UAJM). In addition, the event also attended by two Persons in Charge (PIC): Ibu Silviana Seopono (UAJM) as well as Bapak Sampara (UNHAS).
The Director of Alumni and Career Readiness of Hasanudin University, Bapak Abdullah Sanusi, SE MBA Ph.D., presented the welcoming speech. He suggested that RM Makassar is one of the events that students should attend to prepare themselves for life after graduation. Then, Ibu Parche Manoto, the Head Office of VDMI, explained to the participants about the history of VDMS/VDMI and motivate the RM Makassar participants to achieve their best through participating in the VDMI capacity building programs.
The first facilitator, Ibu Dwiani Fegda, facilitated the participants to understand themselves better through her sessions. Also, Ibu Dwiani guided the participants to prepare for their life after graduation (i.e. professional life). Ibu Dwiani started her session by directing the participants to ask her several interview questions. Then, Ibu Dwiani asked all groups of participants to come in front to show their professional clothes and provided some comments related to the appropriateness of the participants’ clothes for a professional meeting.
The second facilitator, Bapak Ibnu Surya guided the participants to understand the meaning of leadership and encouraged the participants to be active leaders. After each facilitator session, some of the participants expressed their gratitude for having the opportunity to attend the RM Makassar. They think RM Makassar is a life-changing program.
On the third day, Luluk Shovina opened the first session by sharing her experience as one of the VDMI alumni who managed to get a master scholarship from the US Agencies for International Development (USAID). She highlighted that the key ingredient of her success in finishing her study in the US was her ability in writing. Thus, she encouraged the RM Makassar participants to actively participate in the VDMI program that aimed to improve the quality of writing, the Excellent Writing Club (EWC). In addition, Luluk also suggested that all VDMI capacity building programs were very beneficial for her personal and professional development.
The last session was program socialization from the alumni and members of Regional Representative Makassar (RR Makassar). Syiffah Rizky, one of the alumni from Hasanudin University, highlighted that alumni and grantees from the regional Makassar could participate in the RR Makassar events. RR Makassar committed to creating programs that can benefit the members of RR Makassar as well as societies. Syiffah suggested that RR Makassar can be a medium for alumni and grantees that want to improve their social involvement and networking. Finally, the event was closed with a closing remark and photo session.
