Entrepreneurship Sharing Session March 3, 2022
March 3, 2022, VDMI held an Entrepreneurship Sharing Session with Pak Iwan Hartawan. This session was filled with sharing sessions from the participants. Pak Iwan asked about their business progress report that they had done. Saidin (grantee Medan State University) shared about his business (ice cream) that has been having problems lately due to flooding in Medan. Pak Iwan gave an explanation and reinforcement that recently the ice cream business was not easy, because of the fear in the community that if you drink ice, it will give you cold and flu that is identical to omicron. Staying passionate and innovating is the key to the success of this business during pandemic.
Fitri (alumna IPB University) told about the progress of her business, where she has attended a terrarium workshop at ITS and the business has been recorded by TVRI. This is positively appreciated as a ticket to many places to be recognized by the public. Therefore, Fitri should manage her social media from now on. All her social media including Facebook or Instagram should be turned into a business account. She should manage her social media contents by promoting her products that can be influencing the potential customer to buy her products.
Furthermore, Tommy (grantee Tanjungpura University) shared his experience of taking a risk to start his business (laundry product). Pak Iwan suggested that consistency in product marketing and expanding the market area are two important things that must be done by businessmen. Marketing can be run both online and offline. Both must run concurrently and in line. Online marketing is a product showcase display that can be accessed by many potential customers from anywhere. Offline marketing is also still needed because as a producer of new products, potential customers still have to be approached face to face. Collecting data on prospective customers who are visited is also one of the good things that should be done, so that he can further analyze the demographics and characteristics to be taken into consideration in the marketing process of the business area or other products such as dish soap or softener.
Jihan (alumna Semarang State University) has a creative way of her products marketing. She makes one-set sarung batik in the marketplace. The momentum of the month of Ramadan became Jihan’s biggest target in marketing. For that, Pak Iwan gave appreciation to her and hoped that more potential customers would be interested.
