#OtotSendi with Dedi Sanjaya – “Challenge and Opportunity”
Wednesday 21 September 2022, VDMI held OtotSendi (Obrolan Berbobot bersama VDMI Family) with the topic “Challenge and Opportunity” with Dedi Sanjaya (alumnus Medan State University / Manager of Research Management Center, University College of Yayasan Pahang – Malaysia) via Live Instagram at 15.00 WIB – 16.00 WIB
There are 3 problems faced by students: [1] Financial Problem [2] Campus Environment and [3] Adjustment Problem. While in college, Dedi overcame these problems by finding sources of funds (scholarships), participating in competitions and joining organizations. In addition, he also expands the network to get new opportunities. The challenge of digitalization must be used by young people from the positive side so that they follow trends according to their respective fields of science. Turning a challenge into an opportunity requires self-awareness. Remember the ultimate goal to be achieved and treat failure as a spirit to move forward.
Nopri (alumna Medan State University) asked about the challenges faced by Dedi while working abroad. Language and knowledge is not a challenge, because Indonesia and Malaysia still have languages and cultures that are almost similar and easy to understand. The challenge is a technical problem as an employee working abroad in obtaining a work visa permit. Employment regulations are important to understand. For VDMI Family who want to continue their education abroad, IELTS / TOEFL scores are the passports that must be achieved. Then, we need to know the country we are going to and learn about the culture and education system in that country. Finally, create good relationships with people who can help us, such as the PPI (Perhimpunan Pelajar Indonesia) and the KBRI (Kedutaan Besar Republik Indonesia).
With perseverance and enthusiasm, challenges will bring new opportunities.
