2024 – Series of Psychology
Resilience has become a crucial soft skill for individuals to navigate through the difficult times. Accommodating the needs of grantees in resilience aspect, Van Deventer-Maas Indonesia held a Series of Psychology. Facilitated by Febriana Dwiyanti S.Psi.,Psikolog (Psychologist – HR Practitioner) every Saturday and Sunday, on November 9, November 16, November 17, November 23 2024 at 03:00 to 05:00 PM WIB via virtual meeting Zoom.
The beginning of session, start with topic of Self Awareness, Febriana started with current situation about tsunami information in digital era. Often, we are afraid to express our opinions because we are not confident, because we are afraid of being commented on or getting negative reactions. This can hinder our steps to develop ourselves. What we think greatly influences what we feel and what actions we need to take. Self-Awareness is the ability of individuals to be able to identify and understand themselves completely. Types of Self Awareness are divided into two, internal and external. To build self-awareness by getting to know yourself or rediscovering yourself is a process that requires thinking, talking, writing, and action. It refers to recognizing or understanding one’s feelings and behaviours by yourself, recognizing your strengths and weaknesses, being able to express thoughts well, and being able to evaluate yourself. To learn deeper about it, we can use a Johari Window that has four areas: 1) Open self ; 2) Blind self ; 3) Hidden self ; and 4) Unknown self.
The series of psychology continued in the 2nd week of November 2024 talking about how to explore yourself. Self-regulation is a mental process of personal control to controlled the function of situation and feeling. Emotions are complex reaction patterns involving experience, behaviour and physiology that are used to deal with problems or important events experienced by individuals. The basic emotions and their derivatives according to Paul Ekman are: 1) Surprised 2) Afraid 3) Angry 4) Like 5) Disgusting 6) Sad. In our mind it’s like a tangled thread, so it needs to be untangled so that it doesn’t burden our brains. The steps are to become the best version of us by improving ourselves. Emotions are complex patterns of reactions involving experiences, behaviours, and physiology that are used to deal with important problems or events experienced by an individual. The concept of Mind, Body, Spirit as One System emphasizes the importance of paying attention to all aspects of the human being in an integrated manner. This approach is very relevant in modern psychology, especially in efforts to create life balance and improve one’s quality of life.
In the 3rd week VDMI family continues to explore more about Personal growth. Personal growth is the process of our journey that a person undertakes to reach his or her full potential. This journey is likened to roots that grow from within, to be able to identify identity, talents, and dreams. In addition, this journey develops physically, mentally, and spiritually. There are five aspects of personal growth: 1) Emotional growth, organized and understanding of your emotions and those of others. 2) Spiritual growth, how to know your true self through personal values, and who you are. 3) Social growth, improving communication skills and how to become a better listener. 4) Physical growth, a healthy physical body. 5) Mental growth, Adaptability, understanding, open-mindedness. The personal growth process is a continuous journey that will go on throughout our entire lives, trying to understand the source of stress and find out the root of the problem first. Being able to manage stress, we will have resilience skills in the future, namely the ability to adapt to difficult situations.
In the 4th week, this final session the participants had a chance to discuss more about professional growth and how to face the challenge. A professional is someone who has successfully developed special skills and knowledge in a particular field, a career is part of professionalism. According to Mareswari R, personal development Strategies for Career Growth focuses on the importance of improving one’s skills, mindset, and adaptability to achieve career advancement. The three key aspects of being professional that we should have are knowledge, skills, and attitude.
