The first regional meeting in 2025 commenced at the State University of Padang (UNP) under the theme “Forge Your Own Path.” The event began with an opening session featuring speeches from Vice Rector 1 UNP, Dr. Refnaldi and a representative from VDMI, Parche Manoto. This was followed by a presentation by Berit, who shared the history of VDMS, highlighting its evolution and significance on the education in Indonesia. The session concluded with a plaque of appreciation ceremony and a photo session to commemorate the occasion.
The first session was led by Prof. Ningrum, who delivered an insightful presentation on “Indonesia Nowadays,” offering a comprehensive analysis of the current socio-economic and cultural landscape of the country. After a short coffee break, the event transitioned into the first main session facilitated by Dr. Zaki Habibi. Titled “Create Your Own Storytelling: Using Photostory and Rephotography to Understand the Things That Shape You,” the session explored innovative methods for self-reflection and personal growth through visual storytelling.
The second day began with a sharing session by Prof. Irfan, who provided valuable insights and perspectives on the theme of forging one’s path. Following a coffee break, the second session was led by Patrick Yesandro Oscar, MPsi, a psychology expert. His session, “Forge Your Own Path – Become a History Maker,” focused on empowering participants to take charge of their personal and professional journeys. After a lunch break, the session with Patrick Yesandro Oscar continued, delving deeper into the psychological aspects of self-discovery and leadership. The day concluded with a short briefing for Day 3, including a group discussion focused on SMS (problem-solving strategies).
The final day of the meeting began with the continuation of the second session, emphasising the importance of Emotional Quotient (EQ) and Adversity Quotient (AQ) in personal development. The session, titled “From Creating Your Own Path to Becoming the Main Character of Your History,” encouraged participants to reflect on their roles as protagonists in their life stories. After a coffee break, the event transitioned into a Q&A session about SAS, followed by group presentations focused on SMS problem-solving. Participants showcased their collaborative efforts in addressing challenges and proposing innovative solutions. The afternoon was dedicated to the continuation of these group presentations (about English, Tool, Time, Food and Family), allowing for in-depth discussions and feedback. Lastly, there was a traditional performance from Padang called tari piring by the grantees. The day ended with a group photos with the grantees and the staff.
