2025 – Series of Psychology
Van Deventer-Maas Indonesia held the Series of Psychology 2025 with Febriana Dwiyanti, S.Psi., Psychologist (Psychologist – HR Practitioner) in four sessions (June 14, June 15, June 22 and June 27, 2025) at 15.00 WIB – 17.00 WIB. This activity was carried out via Zoom Meeting and was attended by approximately 70 participants in each session. In accordance with the needs of grantees regarding self-psychology and the industrial or work world, several themes have been prepared for each session to provide an understanding of oneself and preparation after graduation.
The first session (June 14, 2025) discussed Know Yourself. Participants were introduced to understand the concept of self-potential refers to the inherent abilities and talents that an individual possesses, which can be identified and harnessed for greater fulfillment in life. To effectively identify one’s self-potential, various methods can be employed, including journaling, the Johari Window model, psychological tests, and personal exploration. Journaling serves as a reflective practice that allows individuals to articulate their thoughts and feelings, facilitating deeper insights into their strengths and areas for improvement. The Johari Window is a powerful tool for self-discovery that encourages feedback from others while promoting self-awareness. Psychological tests can provide additional clarity regarding personality traits and cognitive styles, further aiding in the identification of one’s potential.
Second Session (June 15, 2025) discusses “Sharpen The Saw”. In the context of Industry 4.0 and the requisite 21st-century skills, “sharpening the saw” refers to the continuous process of self-improvement and personal development. The Process Ladder serves as a metaphorical framework for achieving goals. It outlines a structured approach to developing self-potential through education and training, practical experience, mentorship, and networking opportunities. By actively engaging in these practices within the framework of Industry 4.0’s demands for adaptability and innovation, participants can significantly enhance their capabilities while positioning themselves for success in an ever-evolving landscape.
The Third Session (22 June 2025) discusses Building Mentality and Responding to Challenges. In navigating the complexities of life, the concept of “Expectation Vs Reality” serves as a pivotal framework for understanding how participants’ state of mind influences their responses to challenges. The disparity between what they anticipate and what they encounter can significantly affect their emotional well-being. The Circle of Control emphasizes the importance of focusing on positive emotions while recognizing negative emotions without allowing them to dominate our perspective. This approach encourages participants to cultivate resilience by identifying aspects within their control, thereby fostering a more constructive mindset in the face of adversity.
The Final Session (27 June 2025) talk about Building resilience and well-being. In this session, participants were reminded that all valuable goals in the world always require struggle to achieve them. In addition, they also need to read or rewrite valuable and meaningful goals that have emotional strength to stay connected to themselves. Ana emphasized that grit is born from a growth mindset, resilience, intentionality and transformation. At the end of the session, Ana shared her experience as a practitioner in the field of Human Resources. Many things have changed in individual behavior in living life after graduating (working). Adversity and flexibility are needed in responding to the work environment, especially in communication and carrying out responsibilities (job desk).
Thank you to the VDMI grantees who have attended the Series of Psychology (four sessions). Hopefully what has been conveyed from knowing yourself, sharpening the saw, building mentality and responding to challenges, and building resilience and well-being can be applied in current life as students or after graduation (working). See you in the next Series!
