Van Deventer Maas Indonesia always provides programs based on the needs of grantees and alumni. Series of Psychology held every Tuesday within a month (October 20 – November 17, 2020) at 15.00 – 17.00 WIB. The series facilitated by Dr. Fitri Ariyanti Abidin, M.Psi, Psychologist and lecturer of Padjadjaran University. The topics discussed during the series designed based on the Student Monitoring System.

Participants Series of Psychology

The Series of Psychology was participated not only by grantees, alumni, and the VDMI Office team, but also there were Prof. Jan (VDMS Board) and several Persons in Charge (PIC) such as Ibu Lediyana (PIC Padang State University), Pak Sampara (PIC Hasanuddin University). Pak Tri (PIC Sanata Dharma University), Bu Ani (PIC Stikom Uyelindo Kupang), and Pak Turhamun (PIC Semarang State University).

Prof. Jan – VDMS Board – gave some insights in the session

The series discussed self-acceptance, maintaining motivation, managing priority, stress management, and mindfulness training. Each session was conducted interactively. The participants were guided to analyze and solve their problems. It is expected that in the absence of the expert, the students can solve their problems by themselves. With her casual and friendly ways when explaining the materials, Mbak Fitri made the participants comfortable expressing their opinions and telling their problems.

On average, there were 77 participants each week. Besides, the facilitator provided weekly assignments to help the participants understand techniques that had been taught during the sessions. The participants submitted their weekly assignments using one of the learning applications from Google. The enthusiasm of the participants can be seen from their active participation during the sessions. Even often, the sessions were exceeded because there were many questions from the students.

Nurhayati, a grantee from Medan State University, felt that the program is very beneficial for her. From this program, she learned how to manage her over thinking tendency as well as her emotions. Similar to Nurhayati, Defresto, a grantee from Wira Wacana Christian University (Sumba), expressed that the series materials are relevant to the pandemic situation where many people are feeling stressful.
