VDMI Live on Instagram to Support VDMI Family while “Staying at Home” Through the “OtotSendi” Program

Start from March 2020, Indonesia applies lockdown in many cities. The Indonesian government suggests all citizens to do self-quarantine by staying at home as much as possible. To support VDMI family during this situation, VDMI initiate a program called “OtotSendi”, an online talk show with VDMI. VDMI family can join the program by following VDMI’s Instagram account. The program lasts for one hour each day and hosted by Dios Larosa, VDMI Communication and Alumni Relation officer. The guests come from diverse backgrounds such as alumni, grantees, VDMI staff, and some experts.

#OtotSendi Ep 1 – 3

The first series of OtotSendi started on April 22nd, 2020. In the 1st episode, VDMI had Indra Dwi Prasetyo (alumnus from Tanjungpura University). Currently, Indra works as the Managing Director of ID NEXT Leader. Indra talked about his experience in becoming an LPDP awardee that received a master’s degree scholarship at Monash University, Australia. The discussion revolves around the spirit to never give up in pursuing dreams. In the 2nd episode, VDMI had Annisa Ika Tiwi (alumna from Gadjahmada University). She now works as the Government Public Relations at the Indonesian cabinet secretariat. Annisa shared her experience in becoming a journalist. From gathering news in her university, she is now gathering news in the presidential palace. The next episode was with Ayu Asri Devi Adityawati (alumna from Wijaya Kusuma University, Surabaya). Devi shared her experience in dealing with Covid-19 as she now attends her specialist study at RSUD Saiful Anwar Malang.

#OtotSendi Ep 4 – 6

In the 4th episode, VDMI had Ibu Reda Gaudiamo (writer and musician). She encouraged the VDMI family to keep active while staying at home. Next, there was Nur Fitri Hasanah (grantee from IPB University). She shared her experience in making money from her agricultural hobby. In the 6th episode, the VDMI office staff also shared their experience in dealing with the Covid-19 situation. Next, the Language of Love became the topic of the 7th episode with Ibu Ani Fegda (Psychologist and Consultant). In the 8th episode, Bapak Ferdinand Hindiarto (Motivator and Consultant) delivered a motivational talk about how to face the uncertain circumstances positively. Finally, Michael Tan (alumnus from Sanata Dharma University) ended the first series by a discussion about creative outbursts amid social distancing.

#OtotSendi Ep 7 – 9

Furthermore, GoAbroad is the theme of the second series. This time, VDMI had alumni that are currently studying abroad. There were four alumni who are now studying abroad. The alumni shared their experiencing in getting the scholarship and their life in foreign countries as international students. In the 10th to 13th episode, there were I Gde Manik Sukanegara Adhita (alumnus from ITS) at Kobe University (Jepang), Uswatun Nisa (alumna from UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten) at Aligarh Muslim University (India), Albert Budi Christian (alumnus from Unika Soegijapranata) who are now a PhD Candidate at the National Chiao Tung University (Taiwan), and Frans Prathama (alumnus from Ma-Chung University) at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (South Korea). During the live talk show, VDMI family was enthusiastically participated by asking questions in the Instagram live comment. There were 150 to 400 accounts participated in each episode. Hopefully, the talk show will encourage VDMI family in the mids of pandemic. There will also be interesting topics and special guests in the following episodes. So, stay tune on the VDMI Instagram account and be brepared to get inspired!
