In 2022, Van Deventer-Maas Indonesia celebrates its 5th anniversary and the 75th anniversary of VDMS. The activity was held on 16 December 2022 at Movenpick Spa and Resort, Jimbaran, Bali. Attended by VDMS Board Netherland, YVDMI Board, VDMI Office, PIC, Rector and representatives from Partner Universities, VDMI Speakers, Guests and Alumni. “The Moment” became the big theme of this celebration as a series of moments created from the establishment of YVDMI to date. In addition, there was the launch of YVDMI’s book “Moments of Shinning Light” – Van Deventer-Maas Indonesia from Its Beginning to Today. The book presents YVDMI history, activities and people.

On this occasion, there were two extraordinary speakers: [1] Anggiasari Puji Aryatie (Expert Staff for The Deputy of the House of People Consultative of The Republic of Indonesia). Anggiasari shared about the special topic “Leave No Behind Through Inclusive Education”. The objective of inclusive education is to provide opportunities for all students partial to their disabilities (ies) – physical, emotional, mental and social; and or special talents to get education according to their need and capacity (ies). With inclusive education, people with disabilities will have a better chance to improve the quality of life and to be included in society from an early age. Anggiasari emphasized that to include people with disabilities means respecting their rights to access education providing the required accessibility for people with disabilities to be able to fully participate.

[2] Kesuma Anugerah Yanti (alumna from Lambung Mangkurat University), with the topic: “Contributing to Society through Inclusive Urban Movement”. Yanti shared about her project which consists of @mbility and Urban Lotus. Mobility is a collaborative project to support and empower persons with disabilities by providing skill improvement training that focuses on personal skill development by focusing on the sustainability of the program. Urban Lotus aims to facilitate the community by reducing waste production in daily life and increasing public awareness through behavior change not to litter in rivers. Urban Lotus initiates community-based waste management in Sungai Jingah through waste management training and developing 3R principles (reduce, reduce, recycle) in daily life with the people living in the area along the river bank area.
