IDEAS Writing Challenge

Since July 8th, 2025, VDMI has been opening the IDEAS Writing Challenge 2025 submission for VDMI alumni and grantees from all over Indonesia. As in the previous years, this writing challenge was created to encourage and enhance alumni and grantees’ writing skills and critical thinking—two of the major skills needed as they thread along the journey of their careers. 

The curated themes for the challenge covers Inspiration, Digitalization, Education, Art and Culture, also Science (IDEAS) which could be reflected into opinion, scientific article, description, or short story form of writing. The flexible format and broader theme are chosen so that the participants could experiment writing the topic based on their creativity and interest. Basic requirements to submit the articles could be seen as follows: it must have a minimum of 750 words, be written in Bahasa Indonesia or English, and submitted to the Excellent Writing Club (EWC) platform on the VDMI website. 

As of now there have been 75+ writings from more than 30 writers submitted on the EWC Platform for the IDEAS Writing Challenge. We sincerely send our thanks for this kind of enthusiasm. For those who want to join but had not yet had an account to be the member of EWC, you could always email Alip (a.sustanto@vandeventermaas.or.id) to gain access in joining the writing challenge. We are still waiting for your outstanding articles until the 8th of December 2025.

Time is running! Make sure you don’t waste time in writing and submitting your articles, for 20 participants with the most outstanding articles could be selected to participate in the Excellent Writing Workshop next year!
